For example, during three Easter Weekends, Derby Park buried five
thousand nickels in a small mountain of sand and, at the sound of a ???, ten zillion kids attacked the mound with all their little might, pawing, searching pawing and searching deep into its secret nucleus while
simultaneously flinging sand clear into outer space. We think the stars are still wiping their eyes; not from the sand, obviously, but from the joy that beamed from those ten zillion little Earthbound smiles. |
On another occasion, the Derby Park's owner-management team decided to give away a 1969 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. There was a citywide
scrambling for tickets (free to any contestant) for this symbol of wealth and prosperity.
The Rolls was won, the winner came forward to receive his reward, but
he opted for the cash. By the way, we still have that symbol of wealth and prosperity FOR SALE! |
